Philip Mayers

Philip’s specialist areas cover the Community, Health, Education and Philanthropy sectors, and he has searched and recruited over 700 successful Chief Executives and senior managers, with a specific interest in the community and health sectors.

Rick Mayers

Shortly after graduating from Monash University in 1999, Rick began his career in the Information Management sector with Infotrieve Australia Pty Ltd servicing government agencies, education, NFP and corporate sectors



David Wood

David has an honours degree in Psychology and ten years experience working in the manufacturing and construction sectors in South Africa.  He commenced his career in the human resources profession working for Anglo American’s Scaw Metals Group.  During this eight year period, David was responsible for managing a broad range of services in a high pressure environment, attending to both HR and ER matters for up to 7,200 employees at strategic and operational levels. Subsequently, David spent two years as Divisional HR Manager, working for a large contracting firm that specialised in the construction of roads, highways and other civil infrastructure. 


He was successful in establishing his own recruitment business a year prior to migrating to Australia in early 2001. Since then, he has specialised in executive recruitment mainly for a broad range of engineering, technical and operational roles on behalf of clients, including within the construction, manufacturing, consulting engineering, mining and utility sectors.  David has successfully managed many challenging assignments for various clients who have come to rely on his resourcefulness and ability to network with people from all over the world.


David places a strong focus on providing a responsive service and has the capacity to evaluate and match client and candidate needs. He is a talent acquisition professional who possesses a deep understanding of the world of work having recruited a broad range of professionals across general management, sales & marketing, engineering, accounting, finance, IT and human resource disciplines.  Placements include C-suite, executives, professional, technical services, office support, administrative and health care skill sets.


Prior to joining Mayers Recruitment, David enjoyed the challenge of adding significant human capital to SMEC’s engineering consulting business by proactively recruiting staff across all of SMEC's business areas. Many of his hires have achieved outstanding career advancement and accolades supporting and enhancing SMEC's strategic growth targets and their diversity and inclusion initiatives for 7,5 years. David focussed on proactively resourcing SMEC's Roads and Highways business prior to partnering with former colleagues Philip and Rick Mayers in March 2024.
